Tequila, Tacos and a Film Trip for the Books!

One question we get asked all the time as a film crew is…“do you travel?” The answer is…we absolutely travel! We’d guess that about a third of our videos are made on the road, and we’re not complaining. We’ve even got the stash-as-many-halogen-lights-as-possible-into-your-jacket/tie-the-drone-to-your-carryon packing technique down. 👌

Through our travels, we’ve been lucky enough to film with some really, really incredible people and some equally stellar brands. From adventuring all over Ireland, filming promotional content for the Tourism Board, to flying drone while off-roading through the Mexican Sierras, there’s really nothing like shooting on the road to get our inspirational juices flowing (and to put in some really good, hard shoot days - our favorite 💪).

Most recently, production took us to Nayarit, Mexico to film the luxurious new beachfront resort, Conrad Puta de Mita. Working with the goal to create brand awareness and to highlight the world-class Chef behind the INCREDIBLE food at the resort’s Codex Restaurant, we dove into brainstorming the most effective types of stories to help them reach and engage with their audience on a personal level.

We decided to create two main videos with additional supporting social media content so they can engage with their audience on a variety of platforms and maximize the content and messaging from our shoot days on location. And boy were there some shoot days to remember…

The first video illustrates a simple, delicious recipe. Sounds of the crashing ocean waves and sizzle of hot oil in the pan paired with relaxed, paced cooking shots invite the viewer to step into the vacation experience and get a glimpse into a fresh-caught favorite from the menu.

After we wrapped on this first day shooting, when the sun had set and the footage was all backed up, Chef Victor turned to us and asked, “So, what are your plans for dinner?” We were then treated to a perfectly curated nine-course meal like I have never experienced. All I can say is if you’re in the neighborhood, make a reservation. My mouth is watering just writing this blog…isn’t it funny how a good meal has the power to leave a taste in your memory?

The second video is a profile video about Executive Chef, Victor Palma, who is an exceptionally cool guy. He took us to his favorite hole-in-the-wall street tacos in Puerta Vallarta (and got us trying some new flavors like tripas and cabeza — intestines and head), shared with us his why for cooking, and tasted craft tequilas with us into the night, sharing a story behind each.

So, when we get asked, “Do you travel for shoots?”, my mind can’t help but wander off to the people we’ve gotten to know, mind-blowing experiences we’ve gotten to try, and stories we’ve had the privilege to share with the world. And with excitement for the next adventure, we say, “We absolutely do!”
